Nestled amidst the majestic Himalayan ranges, Four Points by Sheraton boasts a near-perfect location with breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks from its rooms and Skyview restaurant. This newly inaugurated Marriott 4-star property, launched in April 2024, features 47 well-appointed rooms, offering a blend of comfort and scenic beauty.
Booking
Basic room rate including tax, starts at 10K INR (or) ~15K points per night. I booked 2 Rooms 1N for a family of 2 Adults+2 Kids, using a total 30K Marriott Bonvoy points.
Check-in
Rainy weather welcomed us, as we reached the hotel in evening with light drizzling. Check-in formalities took ~15 minutes & a local welcome drink Kahwa was served. Upon asking to check for complimentary breakfast, it was promptly confirmed by the reception executive.
Note: If booked a Marriott property on Points, its always better to check/request for Complimentary Breakfast during Check-in. Rules vary among various Marriott properties on this.
The Room
Room sizes are small with balcony & booking isn’t allowed for more than 2 people. You may try requesting to add a child, post booking.
View of snow capped mountains from the room is exceptional. Thankfully 1 Room was upgraded to a spacious Junior suite, but without balcony.
The Food
Breakfast is served at 3rd floor Skyview restaurant. Food spread is limited & nothing to boast of. Taste was good though.
Upon asking for expansion plans (if any), I was told that Barista is likely to be inaugurated soon in hotel lawn area.
Hospitality
Housekeeping & other services took more time than expected. Frequent staff movements were seen in nearby vacant rooms, thereby limiting privacy.

- Thajiwas Glacier: 8 Km
- Zero Point: 28 Km
Note: Horse for the beautiful Thajiwas glacier are available from the Hotel also, but likely overpriced. Zero point is the first place in Sonmarg to experience season’s snowfall. Both Thajiwas & Zero point are prime Sonmarg tourist attractions.
Best season to visit:
Sonmarg is one of the beautiful places in Kashmir to visit any time of the year. To experience Snowfall, mid December to february is ideal time, though you may likely experience Snowfall in March as well.
If you’re looking for greenery, then you may visit during May-June; July-Aug sees some rainfall, and from October Autumn season starts.
Bottomline
Overall, compared to other Marriott 4-star properties like Fairfield, my experience at Four Points by Sheraton Sonmarg felt underwhelming.
Apart from its perfect location, other aspects fell below the usual segment standards. That said, since most tourists will likely spend their time exploring the natural beauty of Sonmarg, it’s still a decent option, especially when booked using Points.
It’s worth noting that the nearby Radisson Sonamarg appears to offer a more polished experience, catering to those seeking higher standards.
